Video: Loadout of Processed Steel for Recycling from Decommissioned Northern Producer FPF at Kishorn Port
A great video captured recently with the loadout of processed steel from the dismantling and recycling of the semi-submersible FPF, Northern Producer. Our marine and logistics team successfully loaded the cargo of processed steel onto the bulk carrier “Day Dream”, for further recycling. The remaining structure is significantly reduced in size now, as Liberty Industrial and EMR continue to cut, downsize, and process the final balance of ferrous metal.

Demolition of Northern Producer
Kishorn Port Ltd recently saw the blowdown of the Northern Producer. Decommissioning, demolition, and recycling of the FPF is being carried out by lead contractor Liberty Industrial, working closely with KPL and its partners. The demolition saw the controlled collapse of the platform using 38 explosive charges at strategic points. This represented one of the largest single uses of explosives at a demolition site in Europe, ensuring the platform collapsed onto itself in a controlled manner. The next stage will be to load the bulk of the ferrous metal out by sea to foundries for recycling.
