Demolition of Northern Producer
Kishorn Port Ltd recently saw the blowdown of the Northern Producer. Decommissioning, demolition, and recycling of the FPF is being carried out by lead contractor Liberty Industrial, working closely with KPL and its partners. The demolition saw the controlled collapse of the platform using 38 explosive charges at strategic points. This represented one of the largest single uses of explosives at a demolition site in Europe, ensuring the platform collapsed onto itself in a controlled manner. The next stage will be to load the bulk of the ferrous metal out by sea to foundries for recycling.
