Environmental Officer

Due to expanding business needs and continued growth, Ferguson Transport & Shipping, as Port Managers and Agent, are currently recruiting for an Environmental Officer, based at Kishorn Port.  This is a part-time role, up to 25 hours flexible working per week.

Duties will include:

  • Responsibility for ensuring all environmental aspects of the business are compliant
  • Overseeing projects and site requirements for waste management licence and environmental requirements
  • To oversee the day-to-day management of the Company’s waste management licence and NORM permit to support operations
  • Ensure audits are conducted in line with the requirements of the European Union Ship Recycling Regulations to support operations.
  • Completion and submission of quarterly returns
  • Safety and environmental daily audits around the port, reporting and following up on any non-compliances 
  • Support RPS to ensure full compliance
  • Providing administrative support where required to the SHEQ department and Senior Management to support the environmental targets within the business

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience of working in a similar environmental role, preferably managing procedures with the planning and executing of NORM work activities and WML licencing and permitting.
  • WAMITAB qualification or similar preferred
  • Strong IT skills in Microsoft applications and happy to learn/develop IT skill
  • Good communication skills, with a flexible approach to work
  • The ability to multi-task and prioritise their workload
