Expansion in progress

A major expansion programme is increasing both dock capacity and overall site footprint.

  • Dry dock extension to accommodate larger assets
  • Land reclamation creating significant new laydown space
  • Designed for floating offshore wind manufacture & assembly
  • Integrated marshalling, fabrication and load-out capability

Kishorn is evolving into a full-scale delivery base for offshore energy projects.

Proven capability

Recent projects include:

  • FPSO preservation and lay-up
  • Drilling rig inspection and maintenance
  • Full vessel decommissioning
  • Heavy steel processing and load-out

Supported by integrated port, marine and logistics services on site.

Dry Dock
Present Day

In 2020 the port saw the downsizing and recycling of the cargo vessel the MV Kaami within the dry dock. This was followed by the Voyageur Spirit FPSO which is moored within the dock for preservation and maintenance and the anchorage of the Banff FPSO for TeeKay. The Northern Producer Semi-Submersible Drilling Rig has also been to date anchored at Kishorn Port in preparation for reuse or recycling.

Now, in 2023, we have successfully relocated the Voyageur Spirit FPSO outside the Dry Dock to allow the Noble Intrepid, the world’s largest jack-up rig, to enter the dry dock for inspection, maintenance, and repairs.

We also welcomed the return of Diamond Offshores Ocean GreatWhite for anchorage in the loch, with supporting marine services, prior to going onto a further drilling campaign North West of Shetland for BP.

The dry dock is ideal for the construction of concrete caissons for the offshore renewable sector. It can also be used for the decommissioning of floating structures with ample set down space immediately adjacent to the dock.

With a working area of 160 m diameter, the dry dock is one of the largest in Europe. Previous uses of the dry dock can be viewed in History
