KPL Welcomes Northern Producer
KPL and the team at Kishorn Port, welcomed the Northern Producer into the Dry Dock, on Sunday 8th October. In the following days the dock gates were floated back in, sealed, and the dry dock pumped dry.
Preparation was then under way for the decommissioning, recycling, and any possible re-use of the 12,500 Gt, which was built in 1976, semi-submersible floating production vessel.
This has been a long time coming and we are delighted to have landed the contract to receive the vessel in for decommissioning and recycling. We believe that this will be the first time that works of this nature, will be carried out in a dry dock, with a semi- submersible FPV, a first for KPL and Kishorn Port under the EU recycling license.
The future decommissioning, demolition and recycling of the Northern Producer will be carried out by lead contractor Liberty Industrial working closely with KPL and its partners.
