Kishorn Port Ltd (KPL) has secured a Waste Management Licence (WML) from the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) for the decommissioning of off-shore oil and gas assets at Kishorn Yard and Dry Dock. This will allow KPL to engage in the growing North Sea decommissioning sector and is one of the first Scottish facilities to secure a WML for this purpose. Kishorn Port Ltd (KPL) commenced 2019 by welcoming its first major contract the Ocean GreatWhite. Owned by Diamond Offshore, a global offshore drilling contractor, the Ocean GreatWhite weighs in at 60,800 tonnes and is a 6th Generation Harsh Environment drilling rig capable of drilling down to 10,000m in 3,000m of water. With a draft of over 23 metres, the rig requires deep water for anchoring and Loch Kishorn provided the ideal sheltered conditions. Final preparations are being made for the imminent departure of the Ocean GreatWhite semi submersible drilling rig from Kishorn Port & Dry Dock. Planned for tomorrow, Monday 4th March 2019. Wishing the OGW, its crew and all the Diamond Offshore Drilling team all the very best from KPL, the Port staff and all at the Ferguson Transport & Shipping team, a very safe journey and transit to the West of Shetland and best wishes for a very successful drilling operation for Siccar Point Energy. After a five month journey from Singapore via the Canary Islands, Diamond Offshore’s Ocean GreatWhite has arrived at Kishorn. The Ocean GreatWhite, the largest semi-submersible drilling rig in the world, will stay at anchor at Kishorn for the next couple of months as she prepares for her first drilling contract off Shetland.Kishorn Port Ltd, are the owners and operator of Kishorn Port and dry dock, which will be used as a supply base with Ferguson Transport and Shipping assisting with port and marine services.
