It was another busy week at Kishorn last week, with the dry dock gate coming out!
KPL were delighted to support the Lochcarron Platinum Jubilee Committee, with arranging the local celebrations held at the Howard Doris Centre on Saturday. As you can see from the photographs, the day was well attended. Great fun and celebrations were had by all. A huge well done to all the organisers, helpers, volunteers and to all those who attended to make the day such a success. On behalf of KPL and joint venture partners, Leiths Scotland and Ferguson Transport & Shipping a huge pat on the back goes to everyone involved.
KPL Director, Alasdair Ferguson and General Manager at the Port, Mike Bauermeister welcomed the SCDI Regional Board for a visit to the port and dry dock, where they were given a presentation, overview and tour round the port.

EU warmly congratulate KPL on their inclusion in the EU List of approved yards for ship recycling which has been adopted by the European Commission. The European Commission, commented; “We are pleased to inform you that the relevant Commission Implementing Decision establishing the latest edition of the European List of ship recycling facilities and including Kishorn Port Ltd has been adopted today by the European Commission. The said Decision will be published in the Official Journal of the EU shortly. KPL welcomed the Ronja Carrier recently for a collection of salmon smolts bound for Scottish salmon farmers MOWI. The Ronja Carrier is a 62m long x 12m beam fish carrier built in 2010, with a 1226 GT. The Port staff welcomed the vessels first visit and look forward to welcoming her back again in the future.
KPL recently welcomed to site the Community Liaison Group, which included a number of people from the local community, along with the Highland Council and HIE. The Voyageur Spirit, pictured in the background, was built in 2008 and currently occupies the dock.
Kishorn Port Limited (‘KPL’) welcomes the findings of Scottish Offshore Wind Energy Council’s recent report Scottish Offshore Wind Strategic Investment Assessment and the earlier Port Enhancement for Offshore Wind report by Crown Estate Scotland (CES), Scottish Enterprise (SE) and Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE). Our 45ha port has been recognised for its significant potential to support future offshore wind development building on an already approved port masterplan which will see the creation of additional laydown land, a new deep-water quay and an extended dry dock facility.
Kishorn Port has welcomed Northern Offshore Company, Northern Producer Floating Production Facility (‘FPF’) to the port for a period of anchorage. The Northern Producer was located in the Northern North Sea sector and until it’s recent disconnection provided the export route for oil produced from a number of fields. The FPF will remain within the port until such time as arrangements are made for the platform’s redeployment or, alternatively, it’s decommissioning (deconstruction and recycling). Kishorn Port is delighted to have received approval today from The Highland Council for its proposal to extend the port’s dry dock. This is a further and significant step in the regeneration of the port and dry dock which was originally established in the mid-1970’s to fabricate the Ninian Central oil & gas platform. The development proposal involves an extension of the dry dock into adjoining land which, when completed, will allow the port to receive vessels and structures up to 250 metres in length in comparison to the current 160 metres.
