The IADC North Sea Chapter Safety Awards were held recently in Aberdeen and KPL were delighted, as associate members, to continue to support the event again this year. It was a great evening, with good company and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who attended in the offshore drilling industry.
KPL Directors, Alasdair Ferguson, Carol MacKinnon and Colin Ortlepp welcomed Cameron Douglas, Green Energy Specialist and Louise Innes, Project Manager from the Capital Investment Team at Scottish Development International to Kishorn Port recently. It was a great visit showing them both the exciting development plans and then a tour of the site and dry dock.
We welcomed the recent visit of the chair of Scottish Ports Group, British Ports Association, Stuart Cresswell to Kishorn Port and Dry Dock. It was a great opportunity, as members of the BPA, to show Stuart round, do a tour, and present our ambitious port expansion plans for the future in the port’s aspirations to play its part in Energy Transition and journey to net Zero, through the Oil and Gas sector, decommissioning, offshore floating wind and our support for the Aquaculture sector.The weather was on our side and it was a great visit with very engaging discussions. KPL and the team at Kishorn Port, welcomed the Northern Producer into the Dry Dock, on Sunday 8th October. In the following days the dock gates went back in, sealed and the dock pumped dry. Preparation is now under way for the decommissioning, recycling and any possible re-use of the 12,500 Gt, which was built in 1976, semi-submersible floating production vessel.A huge shout out to KPL, Ferguson Transport & Shipping, the shore based marine services team, Green Marine (UK) Ltd, Jifmar Scotland, Shearwater Marine Services Ltd, Ross-shire Diving Services Ltd, Chisholm’s Recovery Specialists, Interocean Marine Services and of course our client Northern Offshore Ltd.
We at KPL and our Kishorn Port team bid farewell to the “Mighty Noble Intrepid” this week, to pastures new and onto the next part of her working journey. We have welcomed one of the largest jack up rigs in the world into our dry dock and had the pleasure to look after her, along with the crew and contractors for the last ten months. It really has been a pleasure and we wish a safe journey to all who work and sail on her.
The KPL Directors and Management Team were recently given the opportunity to have a tour round the mighty Noble Intrepid jack-up rig. “What an amazing and mind blowing experience! The sheer size, scale and technology of the jack-up rig with spectacular views from the Heli-deck to boot”! Many thanks to the Noble Drilling Team for making this happen.
