We are absolutely delighted to welcome the recent announcement by the Deputy First Minister, Kate Forbes, of investment of up to £24million by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) in Kishorn Port’s £42.2m Phase 1a expansion project. This funding is key to us delivering the development, which will enable Kishorn to play a pivotal role in the delivery of offshore wind projects in Scotland and elsewhere. KPL Head of Compliance & Safety, Steve Welham recently hosted a visit from Fatima Ferreira do Rosario, an Environmental Engineer with Petrobras, the national oil company of Brazil. As Petrobras is facing the challenge of decommissioning many FPSOs and semisubmersibles in the coming years, the visit was intended to provide background information on a well-established ship recycling facility with expertise and experience in this activity.Although Petrobras are looking to implement their own ship recycling facilities, given the challenges of bureaucracy and red tape in Brazil’s legislature and thus the timelines to do so, their back-up plan is to utilise only EU […]

Alasdair Ferguson, Director, Kishorn Port Ltd, recently welcomed a visit from the Scottish chair representative of the British Ports Association, and Chief Executive, Port of Inverness, Sinclair Browne. The weather was extremely kind, as it has been for the last wee while on the west coast, and it was a great opportunity to catch up about all thing’s ports!

KPL recently accommodated the casualty vessel MS Rotsund at Kishorn Port dry dock after it sustained minor damage after grounding in local waters.   The vessel was carefully towed to Kishorn’s deep water dry dock gates berth by Gina Mary, a workboat from Inverlussa Marine Services, with additional support from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency’s emergency tow vessel Levoli Black. Following extensive surveys and the support of the port services, the MS Rotsund headed to its next destination in Europe for further repairs. KPL Directors Alasdair Ferguson & Colin Ortlepp along with Kevin Ferguson, Operations and Project Manager welcomed a visit recently from Geir Birkeland, Project Director – Talisk Offshore Wind Project and Trond Gartner, Supply Chain and Engineering Manager, of Magnora Offshore Wind.It was great to see Geir again and as Trond hadn’t visited Kishorn Port & Dry Dock before, it was an ideal opportunity to show them both around and give them an insight into the current and future expansion development plans for the Port.

The KPL directors Alasdair Ferguson, Colin Ortlepp and team had a wonderful time at the Offshore Wind Conference 2025 at the SEC in Glasgow. Alasdair Ferguson, KPL Director and Kevin Ferguson, Operations and Project Manager were delighted to accept, on behalf of KPL, the original bell from the now successfully decommissioned Northern Producer. Gordon Donald, Northern Offshore Ltd and Adam King, Liberty Industrial Ltd presented the ship’s bell, originally named “Nortroll” from 1976-1981.
